I watched all ten episodes yesterday.:slayer:

A few thoughts:
- I love Khal Drago. His "crown of gold" reminds me of what Genghis Khan did to the leader of a city which Genghis captured. Though his death was disappointing and anticlimatic (by a ******* witch? give me a break!) the scene at the funeral pyre was awesome.

- The wolves matched with the children, and bastards, of Ned are a lot of fun.

- If there is any justice, we should see the first dwarf be nominated for an Emmy or Best Actor.

- That scene where Littlefinger was musing on politics while the two whores were practicing their "enthusiasm" gave me a woody.

- The house of Lannister reminds me of the de' Medici family of Florence.

- I love warrior princesses/queens and hope that there's continued ascension of both Arya Stark and Daenerys Targaryen.

His name is Dink? Anyway, good on him. Well deserved. Nice to see he was not overlooked.

So it looks like they've finished filming season 2.

The question in the back of my mind (and maybe it has been answered already) is how are they going to deal with the kids aging?

If the show makes it through the currently published books (who knows what happens if they make it there and he still hasn't finished the next damn book), those kids are all going to be 5 years older.

This isn't a huge for the older teenagers like Jon where they could keep playing that role for the next 10 years with some makeup--Sansa will probably be fine too--but what about Arya and Bran? I can imagine that's why they didn't give rickon much screen time (so they can just swap him out with another little kid).

I think they did such an awesome job casting Arya...it would be a shame to have to swap her out 2 years from now because she looks like some 17 year old jailbait from the would you hit it thread. Obviously a fair amount of time passes in the show (it took what? 3-weeks for Robert just to get to winterfell? and there's room for pregnancies...) but is it really a year or more per book?

I read or saw somewhere that they haven't committed to doing one season per book. So it's possible more than one season could cover one of the books (e.g. season 2 and 3 could be dedicated to book 2). That may somewhat take care of te aging problem. Also remember that the Targaryan girl was made older in the show for legal reasons so I don't see why they would be afraid to play around with characters' ages again.

Looks like Arya doesn't age much:

I'm not sure how doing 2 seasons to a book would make the problem better...if anything it would make it worse if you take a girl who was 13 or 14 when filming started (playing someone younger) and then stretch what is supposed to be 3 years of fantasy time into 6-7 years of real time. Now your 10 year old is supposed to be 12 or 13 and is being played by a 20 year old woman. Going the other route might help...they could commit to a longer season and do more than one book in a single year. Maybe if the 2nd season hits it out of the park, they could commit to doing books 3-5 (and maybe 6 by then) all at once a la LOTR.

All of the characters are older than in the book. I think I read somewhere that GRRM even said that he would make them a pinch older if he could start over and it makes sense for the TV show for the more mature stuff like the Dany sex scenes but also for the increased acting talent.

Also, I was happy to see Chris from Skins as Gendry (although he's got to be old for that part now since he was probably the "right" age back when he was starring in skins 6 years ago).

This conversation has now depressed me because I realized that little English boy who got his arm blown off in Master and Commander is definitely too old now....no sequels to that awesome movie coming :(
