The Watch Appreciation Thread - Part two (Rolex, Patek Philippe, Audemars Piguet, Jaeger LeCoultre,

Tried on this platinum Santos Dumont XL today at the Cartier boutique at the King of Prussia mall in PA. The roman numerals are handcut out of jasper which look pretty cool when viewed from an angle. The Breguet hands I assume are platinum too, they are just catching reflections in the pic...

The Watch Appreciation Thread - Part two (Rolex, Patek Philippe, Audemars Piguet, Jaeger LeCoultre,

I didn't try the gold, as it's out of budget, and they didn't have the steel model I was interested in, but I think the combination of the titanium being very light and the roughness of turning the internal GMT bezel, almost made it feel like a toy. In any case it wasn't the experience I was...

Tried this on today. I was actually hoping to try the steel GMT One if they had it, but they only had the titanium and gold. I was hoping to like it, but left fairly unimpressed as the GMT bezel did not work very smoothly on this one at all.

I gave this Nomos 740 to my wife maybe 6 or 7 years ago as a fun weekend watch. Big numbers as her eyesight is crummy, 37mm, 20 atm. After she stopped wearing it, and pretty much only wears her Apple watch now, I switched out the strap and sometimes wear it as a casual watch myself.

Yeah, that was definitely a concern. I'll probably wait then and see where she lands this summer at least. Great advice all, thanks!

A bit outside of the normal posts here, but I figured enough people here have been through entry level NYC finance jobs that I thought I'd network and ask. (I'm a jazz musician so ...) My daughter is a sophomore and econ major at a relatively prestigious private college, and had a pretty lucky...

The Watch Appreciation Thread - Part two (Rolex, Patek Philippe, Audemars Piguet, Jaeger LeCoultre,

There was a "Watch Your Time" advertising insert in the dead tree version of the NYT yesterday. Nothing really new, but I thought it was an interesting skim with puff pieces on Cartier, Chopard, Fifty Fathoms, Daytona 60th Anniversary, etc. Lots of pics anyway. There's a link to view it online...

    Home for audio files?

I use a Roon / Tidal combo. The Roon ARC app can easily stream ripped files from your server to any iOS device, so you could stream anything directly to your phone in order to play it through your car. You can have a dedicated Roon server to host ripped files too, although I just use my desktop...

Somewhat ironically I suppose, Watches of Switzerland actually carries the brand. I stopped in that insane American Dream mall last weekend and tried a few on. Biggest surprise personally was that I thought the titanium Lake Suwa was way more impressive in person than it looks from the pics...
