I stumbled upon this beauty, worn by Mr Whitfield, tailor in Berlin.

The awesome Tuscan Glen Check by Fox.

'Splain something to me, and this is not a dig at you, press play and see a snootty guy on a street corner with ambient noises so loud you can barely hear him, holding a hunk of cloth with the most ubiquitous pattern that ever existed, yet another glenn plaid, and pointing out the incredible, he says, colors which to anyone standing four feet away, which is about as close as you should ever get to another guy, looks like just any ol' brown glenn plaid. It doesn't even strike as a true tweed, and here we are in the Tweed Appreciation thread. How many hundred dollars a yard do you suppose that stuff goes for? Time to wake up N. C. Wyeth, have him design a true tweed, one with depth and interest, he was good at that.

☹️?
That's it?
I said I wasn't digging at you, just curious why you thought that ricky tick glen plaid being fondled by that fart ass you linked was so special. So you got nothin'. I get it, 3,000 posts a year can run a man dry.

I only post what I really like and I love that cloth. As something related more with feeling rather than with intellect, I can't explain why I like it, and can't and won't try to convince you, if you have an opposite feeling.

I don't necessarily have an opposite feeling for I have a couple of brownish glen plaids myself, but I've always wondered why with all the squiggles and lines that can be made with needle and thread and weaving machines, that glenn plaid seems to be so dominant and so dull and so everywhere. But then again, I'm the guy who posted this over in the What are you wearing now thread, so my feelings on patterns in cloth might be a little left wing...

... and no offense was meant with the colorful way fate often forces me to write.

How do you prefer trousers to be finished?

  • Plain hem

  • Cuffed (1.5 inches or less)

  • Cuffed (more than 1.5 inches)

  • No preference, as long as the proportions work
