What's a good weight for a tweed fabric to use in San Francisco during the fall/winter/spring? For a jacket.

I'm looking to buy a RTW tweed sport coat in London at some point, brown or grey, probably for about £500 or under. Where's the best place to go to find one?

Hi all, I’m getting married in the UK next Spring, and I really wanted to wear a tweed suit. Any recommendations would be welcome as I would like a tweed that is appropriate in colour and weight for a late May wedding. I’m thinking a light grey, green or blue but would welcome any suggestions.

A very unusual choice for a wedding suit. I would go for a herringbone pattern like this one on a suit from Suitsupply.

I like this, thanks. I’m fine with unusual - I want to wear something I’ll feel good in rather than follow convention. If I’m made aware of a practical reason not to wear tweed to my wedding then that’s a different story.

Thanks, some great options on there. I particularly like the contemporary collection as less country tweed like and more the look I was going for.
Glad you like them
I have had a khaki linen suit and pairs of trousers from them and have been more than happy
Hugo Jacomet mentioned them on his website as one he may try in the future

There’s one on there that I think I may just go for. Do you know what their alteration charges are, as the website doesn’t mention it?

Definitely Walker Slater. I’ve bought a tweed coat, a tweed jacket and a tweet suit from them. All beautifully made (And re-tailored to fit perfectly).

How do you prefer trousers to be finished?

  • Plain hem

  • Cuffed (1.5 inches or less)

  • Cuffed (more than 1.5 inches)

  • No preference, as long as the proportions work
