Forgive the lighting, but my daytrippers had their maiden voyage yesterday. I prepaid, and had to wait three runs to actually get a pair that worked so this day was a long time coming. I'm going to revel in the moment a bit

2 maiden voyage this week, Whiskey and Green Suede Gunboats. It's the first time I used the pen trick and I am really amazed with the result! It's a shame i didn't learn it earlier.

Be very careful with sizing on the Barrie last. I'm a European 44 -- which as some of you know, converts to an 11 or a 10.5 depending on the shoe/last. The 10.5 D Alden PTB seemed to fit well in the store. After a few wearings I was swimming. I'm now much happier in a 10D (I tried all the permutations, 10.5C etc.).

What to do with the 10.5D I bought? They may go up on EBay.

When I see this kind of stuff I just want to take a moment out and thank some of the gentlemen in the Alden community here on SF for not trying to take advantage of other members by jacking up prices on rare shells.

I recently have procured rare shells from several prominent posters in this thread in the last several weeks and I wanted to thank them for their fairness.

I wouldn't call that being taken advantage of. If you're dumb enough to pay $4000 for a pair of boots you do not need, then you get what you deserve. Alden's are a luxury, not a life-necessity.

Popular topic around here. 38 people watching in disbelief. If they sold for $3k+ (twice the price of the #2 LWBs we saw awhile back) I think we would see MANY Aldens pop up on eBay the following week.

Come to think of it, my financial advisor LIES too. Hummmm.
For somebody who is paying $4k for a pair of Alden, he is either too rich (or stupid) to really care if the seller is either lying or not.
