All those fancy patterning and coloring are distraction from the underlying essence.
Hi @chogall I just wanted to know why you consider NV´s work to have quality concerns and a lack of essence. Could you please elaborate?. I do not like much NV´s designs/styles/tintures but I think he is a different great Cordwainer (tradiction, techniques and materials). If it is true that his prices for bespoke shoes are around 3.500€, then people have plenty of better alternatives IMO.The other issue is the quality of NV's bespoke work, which is somewhat unique, not yet having its strong house style, but having some quality concerns. .

PM sent.Good afternoom Zapasman,
I am a newie here and my interest in shoes is growing in the last copule of years
Which other alternativas are you Refering to? Stefano Bemer, Lobb, Corthay, Gaziano... All are charging similar prices isn't it?
Not a costumer, but just to compare styles and work between NV,SB,GG... And the shoemakers below them.
Than is!!!
Me too!Are Loewe still making men's shoes? If so, any opinions?
I seem to remember seeing some a couple of years ago, and liked the styling.
He clearly were saying Mezlan. Never heard Carmina outsource. Is this for real? I truly thought Carmina made all their shoes, the whole process, in Majorca. The outsourcing has never been commented on any of the Spaniard message boards I know...
"manufactures a MTO shoe for EUR 80.00. "I haven't tried the 'new' Yankos, but I don't think that there are new as such. It is only that the brand is having more internet exposure now. Before Carmina in Spain it was only Yanko and Lottusse with brands like Barrats, George's in Mallorca or Cordwainer (Pertini) in Almansa one step below. Berwick does private label for many shoemakers in Europe (some of them are AV in this forum)
Yanko was in fact Carmina, until unfortunately Albaladejo lost the business because of the crisis. When the Balearic government bought Yanko and I don't know if the bought the brand as well as the lasts. Lasts that were developed by Albaladejo, meaning that the lasts on the 'old' Yanko were Carmina lasts. I honestly don't know but i assumed so.Anyhow I was always more a Lottusse than Yanko guy. Their goodyear line Lottusse 1877 is still made in Mallorca while the other 2 lines. Lottusse Selection and I dont remember the name of the third one are blake stitched outsourced mainly in Italy with a few more too fashion forward.
There are some other shoemakers in Spain that usually fly of the radar and make excellente shoes like Calce or Kollflex or brands like Tallsem that doesnt sell out of Spain but manufactures a MTO shoe for EUR 80.00.
