Yup. A large part of QC is tolerance. How much 'defects' are tolerated and allowed to be shipped out?

Generally we expect more expensive stuff to be inspected a bit more closely and held against a higher bar.

Just receive my pair of Meermin boots. I am quite happy and will post some pictures, but before i am curious what do you guys think about this thing here:

Is it something wrong with leather? Bad quality? Or it does not matter for longevity?
Don't worry. I wouldn't bother. It's gonna crease around that area after several wears anyway.

Hi everyone! First off, thanks for (unknowingly) sparking my interest in quality footwear. I first chanced upon SF while looking up tailors in Singapore and have been prowling ever since.

Anyway, after following this thread for some time, I've finally set my mind on Meermin's dark brown double monks on the Hiro Last. However, this being the first time I'm venturing into goodyear welted shoes, I was hoping that you guys could offer some help with sizing issues I'm facing.

Unfortunately, this means that I don't have any brands or lasts or take sizing reference to. However, I've made a tracing of my foot (without socks):

^ sorry for the poor lighting

If it helps, I size 43 in my Adidas running shoes and Onitsuka Tiger sneakers, though from what I've read those tend to size differently due to their construction and material. I also size 42 in my current pair of leather shoes but my last toe tends to rub against the sides rather uncomfortably. I'm not too sure if that's because my foot's relatively wide (is it?).

I've sent the same picture in to Meermin and they got back (pretty quickly, even on a Saturday) recommending a 42. However, I'm slightly hesitant after my experience with my current pair of shoes and especially after hearing that the toebox on the Hiro tends to be narrow. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I have a question regarding squeaking. When stepping on a heel, right shoe make a loud squeky sound. It looks like sqeaking is due to my heel coming little bit off during walking and then it my sock makes this sound rubbing against leather when it falls into position. I am pretty sure this shoes it my size though...

Edit: so i changed the socks and it's no longer squeaking :D what the hell... Perhaps cause the old sock were little wet or something? Or is this due to sock material?

Edit2: 15 minutes later this squeek as well, so i am pretty sure that's due to moisture in the socks..

New shoes tend to do that, once the shoe is fully broken in it will stop. I sometimes wear a moleskin bandage on my heels in the break-in periods as I find it helps.

Any comparisons of the Elton last against the Carmina Rain last? Didn't see too many other references in other threads.

I've found them to be similar both aesthetically and in terms of fit. Elton is a touch narrower than Rain overall, but my recommendation would be to go with the same size for both.

I am very pleased with the GMTO lug-soled split-toe bluchers I just received. These soles are *serious* and will clearly stand up to a lot of abuse as a casual shoe, but they are still sleek enough to work with the more casual end of my tailored wardrobe. They are ideal travel shoes.

Just wondering if anyone outside EU has received the Cigar Cordovan Oxfords from the MTO yet?

yes, but it might not necessarily be poor QC. I mean Meermin shoes are not expensive, so they cannot just discard or fix every single shoe which show some imperfections - that costs money.

No, but they could sell more shoes with imperfections for a discount in a secondary channel (like currently they have a small eBay store). Now they ask full price.

I'll never understand how it's possible they don't see how UGLY are the laced styles with one mile of space between eyelets, this completely ruin the look of the shoes.
