They tend to make derby boots on the Hiro or Rui. They have definitely made balmoral boots on the Olfe, and I think New Rey too.

Hey guys,

I've been looking at some meermin classic oxfords as my first venture into proper shoes.

I emailed Meermin and i got told that the hiro last is pretty much the same as the loake capital.

I have tried on the loake capital and the 8.5 fits well (if a bit tight in the little toe), whilst there is some heel slip with the 9.

Meermin recommended that I take the 8.5 as they will stretch slightly, but from reading this forum it seems that i should talk half a size larger than the capital...

If it helps, I normally wear orthotic insoles and have worn these to try on the loakes.

please help and thanks.

If I wear 11E for (Brooks Brothers) AE Park Avenue & Fifth Avenue, what size should I wear - would 10E Hiro work? Which lasts should I stay away from? Thanks!

I had to return my double monks as they were too big, $40 to usps. Now i just got hit from fedex with $30 of import duties on the original pair and fear i may face the same on the replacement. So the eur 175 shoes with the euro near parity is turning into a $300 pair of shoes. Anyone else have this kafkaesque experience?

You are not alone. Search this thread to find many previous examples. Going in, that's part of the gamble of buying overseas shoes that you can't try on locally...

If nothing else, hopefully your experience helps some other first timers.

Heading over to Madrid this Friday so will try and take some pictures of the Meermin offerings. I thought about ordering off the website but the chance that sizing may be off worried me. Managed to get a cheap weekend in Madrid so I went for it!

Hi,

I tried a pair of Loake Strand which has the capital last (026F) in a size 9.5 UK and they we´re a very good fit for me. I ordered a dark brown oxford (101198) on the Hiro last after some advice from Meermin, and they were way off, could not even get my foot inside the shoe, I probably need to go a full size up from my 9.5 in the capital last.

Cheers.

Looks like I will go with 1/2 size up from the capital last according to most of the advice on this thread.

I'm looking to get the navy double monks and was hoping to get some sizing advice from anyone that has bought them or a similar shoe from Meermin. I normally wear a UK8.5 in most shoes and measure approx. 10.5"/3.5" - what would be the best size to go for in the aforementioned shoes?

Thanks.
