I asked Pepe whether he can source something similar to John Lobb's museum calf for the group buy. Fingers crossed  :D

I own the Phillip2 in Museum, and got just before they switched to Misty. I also would be interested but from earlier Lobb forums, it was understood that the "mottled" radica calf from Ilcea got so expensive at some point that even Lobb couldn't provide the Prestige at the already absurd pricing ( for which I always felt self loathing over buying) and switched to the less "painted" misty. Meermin uses , as already noted by others and through their site, some of the most respected calf and suede suppliers. DieWorkwear has spent time writing on the tanneries and/or makers and may have more immediate knowldege

Try Ilcea's Glazed Radica calf leather or Burnished Betis Radica. Not sure Meermin has a relationship with them.

Betis Radica should allow the shoes to be 'finish' by the shoemaker more.

I know meermin has a pair on their facebook with a "mottled" effect on a burgundy pair. Not sure if it was from the same source.

How does the Rui fit relative to the Hiro? 9.5 in the Hiro is a great fit for me and I'd like to try a pair of the longwings.

Pepe informed me that he will be contacting these tanneries on the price of the museum calf. He is also checking with his usual tanneries on whether they have the same type of calf. He said he will revert to me back on the price (hopefully today/tomorrow); if he uses the calfs sourced from Ilcea, it will be more expensive. But this will be the most exclusive Meermins they have ever made

This group buy will be limited to 15 pairs only as that is the number I think will be easy to managed so if your interested, drop me your email via PM. I will update those who participate via email on the cost; specs etc.

Can we have some with a different last because it is impossible to fit my foot on any of the lasts you guys are using; hiro etc. My feet are wide and go with nothing less than the Rui

I don't know anything about JL switching to misty because of costs, but either way - I have a pair of JL Citys on the 7000 last, and Meermin derbys on the Hiro last. If it helps people, I can take a photo of the two for your comparison.
