That is an interesting one. We have a place on Lake Huron about an hour north of Detroit and while the wind off the lake isn’t nearly as bad as in Chicago or northern Indiana or the west side of Michigan, we often get alerts about the ice piling up. The house sits a good 50’ + off the lake (and probably 6’ above the lake) but a couple of winters ago I had to go up there with an axe and a sledge hammer and bust up the glacier that had made its way up the beach, over the seawall, and was headed for the glass sunroom.
No NMWA gear in this photo but here’s our daughter pretending she was headed out into the arctic tundra when we went up a couple weekends ago:
It’s a nice place to spend the days in the summer but my god is it desolate in the winter!
