It's a question of navy vs charcoal and I would guess your navy is cooler than the wool/cashmere charcoal. Get there early to give you time to cool off before putting on the jacket once you're inside. Pound some ice water when you get there?- LanceW

How does your environment affect your style?
The environment of the south greatly affects my style by limiting practical uses of jackets. However, I think my style affects my environment even more as dressing well precludes me from fitting in. While I enjoy the clothes, I don't have many friends.- LanceW

entry level shoes - can they be purchased in Long Island?
I would recommend finding your way to the Allen Edmonds store to be properly sized first. Also be sure to purchase shoe trees!- LanceW

Buy new or tailor a seersucker suit?
Nothing wrong with finding something from ebay or thrift but a S will never fit your L. If those are the only two options, I would wear the L untailored over a tailored S. Then alter as the funds become available.- LanceW

Advice on how to treat a watch with sentimental value.
