Can you comment on the work conditions, wages in the factories? I'm not interested in saving a few bucks if it comes at the expense of sweatshop labor.

Absolutely, and this was a concern of mine as well to begin with. This is a very small factory with small production lines. This is not a massive assembly line. There are less than 20 highly skilled [adult] employees and they are paid well because of it.

Can we custom order a pair with extra room in the instep?

I'm afraid not. There are too many variables at play, not to mention extra work. I would suggest sizing up a half size and perhaps taking them to an experienced cobbler to be stretched if necessary.

To those that ordered: want to share what you did order?

Porter in 102, mottled navy (think museum navy) for me!

That's a good question. While I am not a cobbler, I would think that the wear on the fiddleback portion would be very minimal since that part very rarely comes in contact with the ground. I would think that a half sole would suffice if you wanted to keep the fiddleback.

The color/finish on the pair reviewed on P.T.O. is pretty bad though, very spotty. If they were aiming for a Museum-like finish, I think they missed the mark.
