I'm deciding between 2 alden shoes in cordovan, color 8 .... the Long Wing Blucher

or the Plain Toe Blucher .

I'll normally wear them with business-casual attire (sport coat, etc.) but would like to be able to wear them with a suit (grey and/or charcoal)... would either work with a suit? If not, any other recommendations *needs to be Barrie last and come in and E width).

thanks

What are the other shoes in your collection? Not taking this into account, I prefer the longwings. Either would be fine choices though.

Blucher is far more conservative and easier to pull off IMHO. Especially if you find yourself in a work environment, longwings can appear very ornate and over the top. Not good with clients. Additionally, when I think of longwings I think of either polished/formal suits or a beat up pair with jeans. Don't see them working out well with a biz casual look. Could be wrong, just my $0.02.

For what you want I would go with the plain toe.

But keep in mind even then they are second choice for formal attire.

I would have to agree about the plain being far more versatile. It is easier to dress up and down.

Biased heavily toward the long-wings. I'm with Sanguis Mortuum, go with them.

PTB for me too. That's like one of my grail shoes.
