    HUSBANDS (Paris)

I ordered a pair of Bruno Magli zip boots in a size 11 from Nordstrom Rack. BM usually fits me very well. The 11's were long in the toe, but fine everywhere else. 10.5's would probably have fit better after all. The problem is that I could barely get them on due to my high instep, so back...

I might try my usual size, but this is a tough one. Many thanks to all.

Anyone have any experience with the black zip boot? It appears to be back in stock in my size - which would be either a 10/43 or an 11/44. Shoe sizing these days is all over the place, so I thought I'd ask. I better mention I have a high arch, high instep, somewhat broad(er) than average...

Thanks. I will probably order this in Paris this summer. I hope they'll be open when I'm there. Guess I better check. Still waiting for the sleeves to be let out by my tailor. He's super busy. Very grateful to all here for the information you provide.

The French do indeed refer to a forward pleat as a "French" pleat. As long as it folds the right way, you could call it anything you like. My loathing of reverse pleats knows almost no limits.

Husbands did offer me a single reverse pleat, but I opted for flat front. Hence my interest in the photo in Post 577. Anyone?

Polo RL; RRL; & Purple Label all fit me quite well in a 46R. I have recent examples of all.

If you take a tape measure and wrap it around my chest, I measure a 44. It's the sizing of the garment that is the issue, not me. I generally have to buy 46 in everything I buy and my tailor STILL has to let the blades out and deepen the armhole.

Well, my comments really weren't meant as a criticism. I was merely observing that the trousers are very full cut and the jacket is not. It's an odd combination and it lacks symmetry. It's also possible that my trousers are a 60 and the jacket a 58 - I don't remember at this point. I do...

This is all getting a bit much. I am still waiting for the last fix (sleeves eased out from elbow to wrist) on my Husbands suit jacket to see how it turns out. Gosh, I ordered this suit in July 2022 and the jacket is still not really wearable, and I am not a big person. My arms are decidedly...

Re: Post 529, that is an interesting reply from Husbands and I see no reason to dis-believe what they say. I guess when I am in Paris this summer, I better be prepared for a longish wait for my items. Not a big deal in any event. Well worth the wait. No one makes a suit like Husbands - and...

    HUSBANDS (Paris)

I really like my one Husbands MTM suit that I order in Summer 2022 in Paris, but everytime I wear it, which is not often, I notice more issues. Nothing to do with construction, or appearance, which is first class, but rather with for my body type. Most recently, the sleeves of the jacket have...

    I’m Doubting Alden’s Future

I only have one pair of Aldens - a brown chromexcel loafer, 9.5D in the Van last. Bought them in NYC last Fall. I have serious foot issues - spurs in both heels; super high instep and equally high arch. Although tight across the instep initially, these shoes are amazing. It's the way the...

    Thank you - I will.

    Sock Expert, I'm back

I like cotton socks in summer with a loose weave. My feet get way too hot in cotton socks that are tightly woven, like Marcoliani - as nice as those socks otherwise are. If anyone has any recommendations, I would certainly appreciate them.

Polo Ralph Lauren jacket size label - from the Made in USA era

I just bought from ebay a what I thought was a PRL sport coat (it is USA made), but I think it's an orphaned suit jacket. It was less than $45.00 and is in mint condition so it's no big deal, but the inside pocket label says: 46/40 REG. Other PRL jackets I have acquired from the USA made PRL...

    Tom Ford

And, where can you go to get that? Also, is there a forward pleat option? As one member mentioned above, TF does offer one. TF also has a single pleat option, as I have one - MTM @ NM in about 2018/19.

I have a number or TF garments. I don't think you can get near to the quality & look of TF without going over what TF costs, especially during NM or BG markdown time. Of course, they are all cut slim, even the Windsor. I have one Windsor suit & sport coat; one Shelton suit; and one O'Conner...

In Defense of the Low Armhole

I do recall Gautier mentioning a 60, but I could be wrong. Maybe I can widen the sleeves on the jacket. Not much fabric there, though.
