This isn't meant as a slam on Noctone or a pile on. Just keep in mind that, as convenient as credit cards are, credit card companies have one, and only one, goal: to separate you from your money. I have no idea if you're in over your head, as I really don't know your financial situation. However, my advice is pay off that debt as quickly as possible, and don't miss any payments, even by a day (it can hurt your credit score and may entitle your CC company to jack your interest rate).

just did the math - in 2005 I spent 1.1 % of my gross income on clothes.

I think I may have spent about 8% of my pre-tax income over the last 5 years, in other words, too much. I have no idea what this is as a fraction of my post-tax income but I pay 35 cents on the dollar in income taxes (my taxes have grown and I don't know what they were in past years, doesn't include sales taxes or property taxes). I actually feel real bad about this.
