I've never owned anything bespoke before but I'm now obsessed with the idea of bespoke shoes from Alexandria (I'll even cross the river for that). If you were going to choose a bespoke shoe, what would you get?

If I may, I think the best bet for bespoke is asking yourself what do you wear the most. It’s a personal question. I’d caution against doing anything crazy.

Without knowing you, I’d probably start with a black or brown cap toe Oxford. That would be my default. However, that was not my first order. There’s a general rule that you shouldn’t order a loafer first but not every shoemaker feels that way. I went with a loafer because that’s what I wear most often & it wasn’t an issue for my shoemaker.

Consult with drew first, and proceed from there. That’d be my best advice. Hope this helps.

For me, a dark brown semi-brogue oxford would be the way to go.

Co-sign the dark brown semi-brogue oxford!

Not dark brown, but this tan example on their IG looks great.

I would definitely do this in dark brown to make it the most versatile for my personal outfits and get the most wear out of them, especially since they would easily be the most expensive pair.

From a bespoke fit standpoint, if you have hard to fit feet (most European makers and lasts don’t work perfectly well for me), I would want a loafer or lazyman.

We need more tailors, shoemakers and menswear stores in Alexandria and less coffee shops imo. There's so many :hide:

There are like 3 menswear places in Old Town - only one with suiting and I've never actually been in there because I feel like it's overpriced. There are no good footwear options.
exactly.

Tailoring and fancy dress shoes are expensive and very few people wear them. Coffee is relatively cheap and everyone drinks it. Makes sense there would be more of the latter!

I read that more of the latte.

Could have been a good dad joke.

I don’t drink coffee. I prefer to spend my coffee budget on tailoring. 5 bucks per day for 250 days per year adds up! And that’s if only one cup.

But, I accept I’m not the norm in this regard.

Edit: yes, I realize the numbers don’t add up haha. This is sartorial math.
