We need more tailors, shoemakers and menswear stores in Alexandria and less coffee shops imo. There's so many :hide:
Jos. A. Bank just closed here in Arlington. Fewer and fewer folks wearing CM thanks to telework and overall casualization. DC is basically a Jos. A. Bank town as most folks only wear suits because they have to.

Makes me think that if the low end goes away the higher end has no legs to stand on. 1%ers already seem to be ditching business suits for Cuccinelli and Loro Piana.

Maybe even in govt a tie-less sport coat ensemble might be considered formal soon?

Knocked out 15 on the bike. Kinda cool and windy but the sun is out. Tidal Basin crowded with Cherry Blossom festival.

Saw the Mark Rothko exhibit at the National Gallery of Art this morning. It’s fantastic if you’re an abstract art fan in general and a must-see if you’re a Rothko fan in particular. Catch it before it closes next weekend.

Thanks for the rec. I didn't know it was closing so soon. Would have loved to see the Rothko exhibit in Paris.

Are the paintings in chronological order? do they get darker as the exhibition goes on?

no cycling today but i did walk over 6 miles with a friend who came in from out of town and it was nice to enjoy the weather.

last night, a friend took me to some muaythai fights in manassas. it was a fun night out, even if the fighting was not of the highest quality. the whole affair was pretty redneck but still a good time.

Well Jos.A.Bank has a million stores and that is a lot of overhead too. Hopefully just a them thing because the well in tune will still buy the good stuff.

Quick question to those who wear suits to work.

Are you customer/client facing and need to wear tailoring or are you office based and the only people you see are employees and choose to.

I've always worked customer facing and enjoy being presentable, I don't think I could go back to non facing and wear suits.

I work in govt and suits and ties are mostly required. Can get away with sport coat and tie ensembles most of the time.

Can dress down a bit but need to have jacket and tie on standby just in case.

Like what @smittycl said, government here, so not customer or client facing. Often in meetings with suit/tie required, often enough I just make it a habit to usually wear jacket and tie. Sometimes its sport coat and odd trousers

Government?

uh oh, whatever I said on this thread is hypothetical and doesn’t mean the context written.

I love America, I love big trucks and beer.
Honest.

Pretty sure this is a “safe space”

Theres a handful of us in this thread that are govies, just FYI.

And Speaking for myself, could take or leave a big truck, but a good beer is 👍. Definition of good is a topic for the next gathering.
