Spent two weeks in Chicago and surrounding area, just got back. The big trend there now is flavored moonshine. It's in all the bars, especially apple flavored. I had no desire to taste this concoction, I was quite happy sipping my Calfornia reds and whites. But at lunch one day the drink special was irresistible: "Cock -n- Cider". LOL! It was absolutely delicious, like drinking apple pie. Turned out to be a mixture of Cinnamon flavored whiskey (?!) and Apple flavored cider. And it packed a punch!!

Went to the Suntory Yamazaki distillery on the weekend. Had a tasting of the 25 year old, which goes for about $1,000 a bottle. :slayer:

The owner of my fav whisky bar gave me a nip of the 25 year old for my birthday, I didn't realise it was that expensive. Not sure if "give" is the right word because I spend too much money in there as it is and I can never figure out how they work out the tab.

2 oz Dark Rum
1 oz Creme de Framboise
1 oz lime juice
2 dashes Peychaud's bitters

I've made it a bunch, I like it a lot, I still have no name for it.

Bacardi Oakheart & Coke with a bit of lime. Not bad. Better than Captain Morgan, that's for sure.

San Pellegrino Aranciata Rossa tastes pretty bad. Far too sweet. Orangina's version is way better.

I know. Their crappy white "Superior" is just 37.5% too. Still, I far prefer the Oakheart over Captain Morgan.

This is kinda cool. It's 40% in the US, but 37.5% in Europe.
