That's nice of you - thank you!!!! This is just what I was looking for...I was not aware of Leffot - what a cool store! I read a story online that it is "a top shoe shop in NYC" - WOW, that's saying a lot...they did a special makeup for their 15-year anniversary - it was a Alden LHS loafer in color 8 with crepe soles and an antique edge - it looks like a triple sole to me...a very cool shoe...I've got the store bookmarked now...thanks again for pictures!!!! (this was the makeup they did last year https://leffot.com/products/alden-d2208-preorder )
Hey, Buddy.

Leffot is doing a preorder for the crepe LHS again.... :)

How do you guys nourish your smooth tobacco chamois? Same as the reverse chamois e.g., with neatsfoot oil? Or would that leave really noticeable staining on the smoother surface?

I think the plaza last was introduced by a german retailer. They are called möller & möller and nudged Alden to invent the last. At least they claim to.
I was under the impression Adam from AoC created/introduced the plaza last. I’m not the historian @mdubs @JSO1 or @sazon are so maybe they can add some color.

I do know plaza makeups were plentiful several years ago and makers have shifted back to the ”bulkier” lasts. Maybe due to demand coming out of COVID and a shift in workplace dress... though plaza, while sleek for Alden, isn’t exactly sleek by industry standards.

I was under the same impression that Adam at least had some influence over its formation. But I don’t have any other information on it than that!

Speaking of Adam, I just want to say his service to the Alden Army should be highly commended. For a stand alone web presence he ushered in a new era and was honorable beyond words. The 26 make up, all the wonderful makeups I’ve enjoyed throughout the years are treasures. I think he may be still somewhat connected to B&M but I’ll always remember fondly Alden of Carmel. One of my all time favorite retailers.

Can someone fill me in on what happened to AoC? I remember they had a nice website with really cool makeups but then disappeared to B&M.

How do you prefer trousers to be finished?

  • Plain hem

  • Cuffed (1.5 inches or less)

  • Cuffed (more than 1.5 inches)

  • No preference, as long as the proportions work
