Has anybody used them recently? I plan to grow my wardrobe by getting a bespoke suit made by a somewhat local tailor beginning next year and hopefully each year thereafter. However, I need to supplement this with some other sport coats, suits, etc. until I get my fully bespoke wardrobe together.

I'm deciding between using Samuelsohns MTM program and WW Chan. Leaning towards Samuelsohn as it seems so hard to get any fittings with Chan without being local in HK. Anyways this was a long way of asking if anybody has used Samuelsohn lately and if they were happy with the results?

Thanks

I've been getting Samuelsohn MTM for a few years now and I'm very happy with it. Good quality stuff and the choice of fabrics is pretty decent.

My only gripe is that they seem to change their cuts regularly so you get your measurements right and then that particular model is discontinued so you have to start over again with another.

Does that mean that they discard the pattern on which your MTM was based?
Or, is it a matter of there no longer being a "production run" of the model on
which the pattern is based? That's equivalent to what happens with RTW.

The way I understand it, Samuelsohn has a certain number of jacket models that are in production. Each one has a specific cut. Some have softer shoulders, slimmer sleeves, etc. You choose the model that you like the best (say, the "Gable"), find the size that will serve as the base (for example, 42) and then there are a certain number of adjustments that can be made to get it to conform to your measurements. You then end up with a customized "Gable" pattern, which you can tweak as necessary as you get jackets made. If Samuelsohn discontinues the "Gable" jacket, you can't order it anymore and you have to start this process over with another model because it's a whole new pattern.

Then I was misinformed a couple of years back by a local retailer who basically said
that I could get the Talbot Model, even though it had been recently dropped, via MTM.
I never followed through. BTW, the Talbot model was a great cut.
