im looking for my next paisley tie and i want it to be the best quality , pure luxury tie, price is not of concern for now.

i have been reading alot here about both mulberrywood/Sam Hober and Carlo Franco.
these two seem to be the Super-Heavyweights of the handmade 7fold neckties.

can anyone give their 2cents about comparisons between the two?

please refrain from bashing, although CF may not be here to listen, Mr. David Hober is here, and I want to just hear about constructive pros and cons.

thanks

Well to begin with I believe that Sam Hober makes ties and pocket squares while Carlo Franco makes promises and excuses. That is not to say that they are not equally procicient in their respective occupations, but since I have neither been a customer of Hober for ties nor Franco for excuses or promises, it would be hard for me to give a qualitative comparison. I can say that I have purchased non-ties from Sam Hober and David is a terrific guy.

I don't understand why any other factors even need to be addressed. You might as well paypal your money to a random email address, you'll get the same thing shipped to you as you would from CF.

If you want a thick seven fold, take a look at a Rober Talbott . I love S Hober ties, but RT 7 folds are my favs. Here is an example of a paisley I used in the pattern comp. You only want a paisley? This is a four in hand knot.

I think that CFs ties are very nice. I like the way they tie up and the perfect dimple they make.

But there's really no comparison between a tie in a stock size with a stock interlining and one with dimensions and interlining specifically chosen to give you the knot you want.

I'd take a Sam Hober 3-fold based on the pattern we've developed over a CF 7-fold any day of the week. That's not bashing CF's product, it's just saying that he didn't design his product around my preferences.

There are people who haven't gotten stuff they ordered in 2005, you do the math...

I think Carlo Franco will rise again.

Remember how quick people were to order ties when they went on sale (and before people who had paid full price even got their ties).

All they have to do is come back, participate a bit. Set right some of the problems, discount a bit and people will be lapping them up again - for better or worse...
