I don't think this addresses the disputed origins of the GAT, but the BBC's Sneakernomics series is a good listen for those interested in the history of trainers. Lots of shenanigans.

I have Novesta's version of the GAT,nice soft leather but the sole is quite stiff...that label comes off in a couple of minutes.

For comfort when walking on city pavements these Gola are good and you can usually find them in a sale.

Not everyone's cup of tea but I got these Gola Harrier MiE,leather with Harris tweed in the Gola Blak Friday sale a couple of years ago.

Those Gola Harrier are very nice, I remember the first time I saw them on someone was on @covskin. They are not very popular in France yet.
I’ve got a pair of Adidas GAT, might get a pair of vintage ones that are still easy to find NOS in surplus stores.

As i mentioned DMs...

i remember we had a few years ago a discusion on "Ultimate Martens" (not including vintage DMs or other brands like Solovair).

For @Botolph, they were his MiE Arthur Boots in Boanil leather... How are they now mate, still going strong ?

For me they were and still are the MiE Steed shoes in Quilon leather, with the thinner soles. Best i had so far.

Yessir, still going strong! I don’t have any other photos aside from the one above, but yeah I really like the quality for sure.

How do they size mate ? Asking because it really depends from where they are made, and I found a pair of DM shoes in Boanil online but they are half a size smaller than my usual size…
So if they sized big, maybe…
