Devon Turnbull, the guy behind Nom de Guerre back in the day, is now into building retro-inspired Hi-Fi gear. Great video if you want to nerd out on Western Electric vacuum tubes and Altec Lansing horn design. Will repost in the home stereo thread as well.

Cool, thanks for sharing. Below is a really fun read on all of this sort of stuff, with Ojas featured of course. I think it's a genuinely interesting read even for those not particularly interested in high end hi-fi as well, because it touches on the sort of mentality I think people active on a Style Forum might share in some ways.

Thanks for the share. A good read and fair treatment too. It covered some of that Triode revival history really well as well as the tension between different audiophile camps. I did have to laugh when "In Praise of shadows" was mentioned in it.

random audiophile post:

There’s a lot of truth in that video. I put myself on a multi year upgrade hiatus after cycling through a few different setups in the past few years.

Well you see, there are these guys (it's mostly guys) and they have a hobby that is has elements of consumption but coupled with personal taste, a sense of aesthetics, and (for some) a bit of DIY. They get really into it and this leads them to seeking things of higher quality that leads them into more and more esoteric and expensive makers. Some of them get really into the old stuff, some of them get really into new things made to be like the old things, and some of them get really into the newest of the new. But none of that would be at all relatable to anyone here.

I agree. It’s weird and I don’t like it.

I wish this was straw!!! I'd take this off your hands quick snap
I tried to wear a hat that was not some type of cap, and the results were not pretty. The hat is cool though.

I feel the opposite!! I feel like straw hats are my jam, especially open crowns
