I am typically of the opinion that loafers should be outlawed, but I agree that these are nice. If anyone was going to be able to pull them off it was @bemk.

Uh, they are different beasts. Earlier in my sartorial journey I wasn't attracted by them as well and considered them inferior to lace-up shoes. Later I began to like loafers more and more, but unfortunately I couldn't find a last that really worked for my slim heels. So only recently I was able to add a pair to my collection.

Not Crockett & Jones, but want to post them nonetheless, my Perticone MTM loafers.

Thank you, dear friends! 🌞

Yeah, well I never thought I'd add Loafers tbh, especially since I'm mucho heat-resistant and have no issues wearing half shoes in burning sun.
I don't wear sandals, just have a small collection of Babouches for indoors, but this summer I added a pair of Rivieras espandrilles (these ones ), so I was kind of halfway there. These Rivieras run much too small and the bigger sizes needed are not a good fit either and anyway, I'm not a fan of the thin sheet of leather insole with the plastic beneath ... and it's not really my style.

But there's something nice about going light and sockless, so I thought I could try some high end slippers and just take it easy. I had to adjust my eyes to that look with the open vamp and all, but I guess they will be fun.

Here's an outtake with a different angle:

These I like, and would have never been included in my white paper proposing lengthy prison terms for those wearing the offending footwear. These do not have the unstructured, poncey and effeminate aesthetic that makes me sick to the pit of my stomach.

I understand that my views on this are not shared - it’s just how I feel.

I’ve been holding onto this for a long time and it has slowly eaten away at me. I felt like this was a safe space for me to express my true feelings.

Absolutely. I actually used to dislike loafers too but have changed my tune. I still am reluctant to wear tassel loafers despite owning three pair. They're not common in the States and I feel a bit self-conscious / effeminate wearing them.

I completely get that - tassel loafers are another thing altogether 🤦 I must admit, if I HAD to have a pair of loafers, I’d probably go shell as the stiffness seems to help them hold their shape.
