Hey everyone! For our customers who are planning to visit our new location - we are looking forward to it! Please note that we are currently in a soft launch phase. With the holiday season approaching, we didn’t want to miss out on the opportunity to open our doors, even though the store is still a work in progress (our sign isn’t even up yet 🙈). Once everything is finished, we’ll send out another email to announce our grand opening.

Regarding phone calls, we’ve received some inquiries, so I wanted to clarify that the number listed on our Google page is for the store only. Calls to that number won’t be forwarded to our head office as they were before. If you need to reach our head office, you can find the contact number on our website! I hope this helps answer any questions anyone had, and we’re eager to hear about your experiences at our new location!

You should post sneak peek photos here, even if the space isn’t complete. It would probably tease me to visit even more!

Hello brains trust

I'm interested in buying some high rise trousers.

What's the sizing and general fit like on them?

Had a look at the measurement charts but doesn't say where the measurements are taken from. Specifically interested in knowing hip and thigh.

And does anyone have experience they're able to share about sizing up slim trousers and taking in waist, compared to going for their regular size contemporary? Not sure if this would be a viable option.

I've got 3 pairs of slim high rise trousers: green hopsack, blue herringbone tweed, and a wool/cashmere flannel. All 3 pairs 31.5 inseam (no break) with a 1.75" turn up. I'm 6'-1", 183 lbs, with a slightly athletic build, 33" waist, but I've got fairly skinny legs and a bubble butt so I purchased these pairs in a 34 waist. The side tabs are almost fully cinched closed haha.

They fit great on me, with room in the thigh to do a squat. My thigh, measured at the thickest part (about 2" below my crotch) is 22". I haven't had a chance to compare that to the trouser so I'm not sure the exact location (the slim high rise is shown on the website to be 26.4"). I'm actually also not sure about the hip measurement location...

For any GTA locals, I will be stopping by the new storefront this week to buy a new suit. I'll give my feedback afterwards.

Thanks for that. I am going to try and make it next week and will report back as well.
I visited the store. Nice space. VERY limited items available to see or try on. And no option currently for items of interest to be shipped to store to review and try on. Also, new manager was curt and not very pleasant to me. I'm certain the in-store experience will improve quickly.

Thanks for reporting back. I wasn't able to make it last week and the note about "soft launch" convinced me to wait a little longer.

They really need to figure out the stock issues to capitalize on the foot traffic that plaza will bring. Us SF crazies are willing to wait it out for the next batch of high waisted pants, but the random guy that walks in and needs a dress shirt the week before his first in person meeting in six months is going straight next door to the Harry Rosen Outlet if his size isn't available.

@SpierTeam one of the most common complaints here about your shirting is tightness around the wrists. I don't see that this is configurable on your MTM - is it something your cutters can adjust for if we make it a comment?

I finally made it out over the weekend as I was busier than I thought during the week.

I agree, the space is great and lots of potential. Much better than the old showroom which was a bit dingy. Echoing your sentiment and S&M themselves earlier on this thread, it very much is a soft launch so stock is limited.

They have a lot of their knitwear on display which is great, I enjoyed being able to feel and try on their more casual wear. I was really impressed by their wool knits and it convinced me to buy some in the near future.

I went in looking for a rather basic and versatile Navy suit, and got lucky as they had one of their core suits in my size on the rack. Tried it on and got some assistance from one of the staff members in nailing down my shirt size. It fit surprisingly well off the rack, so ended up walking out with the suit, plus a shirt and tie (impressed by how nice the tie felt, on sale for C$48).

I found the customer service to be a bit on the colder side, or maybe a better term is shy? But it is a big jump from their previous in person retail model so I'm sure it will improve.

I'll take shy any day of the week over those pesky sales persons hovering around you...

100%. I'm sure the folks (retail in general) are to some level obligated to hover/push certain products/upsell, but it can be so offputting.

Perhaps because I do nothing of the sort, but for the life of me, I'll never understand why the script isn't "hi there, I'm so and so, and if you need anything, I'll be right here to assist," or something along those lines.

Customer now knows you're available and happy (well, willing lol) to help, has no chance of being put off from an overeager salesperson, and now knows they shouldn't feel uncomfortable in seeking out the staff.

How do you prefer trousers to be finished?

  • Plain hem

  • Cuffed (1.5 inches or less)

  • Cuffed (more than 1.5 inches)

  • No preference, as long as the proportions work
