@bemk As a non-American I don't fancy Alden's, but the dark brown cordovan's look great!

My wishlist includes the Lanark 5 in Dark Brown Hatch Grain, but not sure if shell is something I'd like and worth twice the price of calf shoes. Collection- and weartime-wise I'd probably be better off with two €500 pairs.

Hmm. Being American made was not a selling point, but is something I appreciate. I am shaving with US made razor for many years (Above the Tie, Blackland).

But I would certainly stay away from Dutch products. :tongue: Because Fußball! 🤡
[...] but the dark brown cordovan's look great!

Thank you! 🍻

My wishlist includes the Lanark 5 in Dark Brown Hatch Grain, but not sure if shell is something I'd like and worth twice the price of calf shoes.

The good thing about the price of Shell is that it makes some of is think twice before buying. It's certainly easier to buy (often too many) shoes when they are more affordable.

Collection- and weartime-wise I'd probably be better off with two €500 pairs.

Some love Shell, some don't, but whatever the approach: Shell is special and you always see it. And it gives colours a certain magic that you don't get with calf (, which of course is true the other way round).

I think of Shell mostly as an enrichment in choices for my wardrobe.

Take for example my new Ascott. You can already get it to a degree from some of my pictures yesterday, but I have worn it outside today in lovely sunlight on a mild day and it has a midbright hue like the crema of mocca mixed with mud. It's sooo awesome and so special. I have never seen a calf shoe that did this.

Ordered a pair of Boston's in ocean suede today from Thomas at 92 Jermyn St. In my G fitting, in the last 314, which is such a perfect fit. Going with wheaten full sole lining, and going with City Sole in black, with all edge and mount in black as well...I love the blue shade of this color suede, it's lighter versus their navy suede...I was told I would have them here in the U.S. by xmas....fingers crossed!
