Just ordered a Drake's MKVII Brown Gun Check Tweed Blazer.

Weight is 430 grams. Thick and hard-wearing.

I like the feeling of it and the slouchy look. Completely unstructured, only lined in the sleeves.

Underneath is a Drake's Rugby shirt. No problem when it comes to mobility even though I have layered with a quite thick shirt underneath.

This is size 54 and thus consistent with my sizing in chores jackets.

What do you think about the fit?

they're too long, this was a temporary solution :)
Yeah, seems obvious from the picture it's not meant to be long term, haha. I always have to fold sleeves back like that too d/t short arms for my chest size. It looks like it fits well, definitely fuller if thats the silhouette you were after, but could be helpful to have a couple more pics, esp one buttoned.

Seems like some here size down for a less full fit at times. I have a black/white herringbone version on the way from Drakes Canal St and the sales consultant recommended I take a 38 based on me taking a 40 in chore jackets and a 38 in the jungle jacket. As a smaller guy the stuff meant to fit fuller tagged size can swallow me up sometimes. We'll see how it works.

Also, every time I've called Drakes Canal St during the week for help with sizing and such, they've been great.

Question on Drake’s chinos. Bought my first pair from Drake’s. Would you expect them to loosen up a little over time? The waist, thigh, hem are perfect but the hip could be touch wider. So wondering whether that naturally stretches a touch over time?

Ordered:
- Tobacco Cotton Flat Front Chino
- Sand Textured Cotton Flat Front

The black/white herringbone looks sweet!

I think the issue for me with sizing down to 52 is the smaller armholes. For sake of comfort I think this size for me would be preferable, and perhaps I could tailor it around the waist slightly.

Yeah, the Drake's team is good at helping with sizing and getting info on the fabrics. Wish we had a Drake's store in my country 😅

Aside from the sleeves needing alteration, I like the fit of the jacket with the volume of the jeans in the first photo. It works very well. In the second photo, the pants seem more fitted, the silhouette is more unbalanced.

If this is the Games Blazer from Care of Carl that I had my sights on, I have to regretfully inform you that it doesn't fit, and please return it to them... ;-)

Paraboot Neuilly or Reims
Astorflex Greenflex or Bitflex
Tarvas Explorer

Honestly, all my Astorflex shoes (except Dukeflex) are pretty much waterproof. Not sure how that’s even possible…

I’m thinking about buying Diemme Roccia vet sport for the worst of the worst weather. Does anyone know if the traction is good on ice and snow?
do you still wear Tarvas Explorer or has something replaced them in the years since you wrote this? I’m considering them in ochre - even though they are constantly sold out

Yeah for sure! They’re great shoes and my most worn pair for this fall. Had to buy a new pair in bigger size this fall because the original pair got too small. Suddenly on the edge of forty I’ve found about half of my shoes too small 😵‍💫. I didn’t hesitate to buy another pair from Tarvas 👍

Ha - the salesman at Crockett and Jones told me our feet actually widen with age due to our weight, hence the need fir a larger size. Great Tarvas review, thanks. Paraboot Maine in black might win though.

How do you prefer trousers to be finished?

  • Plain hem

  • Cuffed (1.5 inches or less)

  • Cuffed (more than 1.5 inches)

  • No preference, as long as the proportions work
