Hello crafty Cumbrian,

on the telephone the costs for the Albany 4 on the 373 last would be 1040 Pounds. A lot of money. The fees for the half or full patina are added to this. That is then almost the costs of a Gaciano & Girling shoe, if it fits. Anyway, next longer weekend is a hoop on the train to London.

Best regards

pascal
Yeah dropping a grand on CJ brings it too close to higher end makers. Agree that 373 is brill. Fits me like a glove. They should use it on more stock models

373 last is superb fit for me too and I have wide feet; there’s something magic about that last!
An Edward Green basic MTO is about £300 above standard price so still quite a bit more than C&J but, yes, proportionally C&J charge more for a special order than EG.

Doing some light work this afternoon. Made a small error this thread might appreciate. Guess I have shoes on the mind.

In short, the experience of social closure is one in which marginalized groups find themselves grappling with disparate access to important goods and services (e.g., Crockett & Jones, 2004; Hill, 2005), educational opportunities (e.g., Fiel, 2013; Hanselmen & Fiel, 2017), and occupational opportunities (e.g., Koning, Samila, & Sorenson, 2021; Ray, 2019)

Please note the actual citation is:
Crockett, D., & Wallendorf, M. (2004). The role of normative political ideology in consumer behavior. Journal of Consumer Research, 31(3), 511-528.

Well I’ve had my Snowdens for a few months now and they’ve already become a favourite. I’m purposely walking through puddles with them like a small child and it’s nice and freeing not having to baby a pair of dress boots as I’m out in town. Decided to grab my second pair of CJ’s and tick off two boxes for shoes/boots that I don’t already have. Went with a pair of roughout Moltons which will be my first Chukkas and first waxed roughout.

I’ll post pics when they arrive, but pretty sure I’ll love them. Another pair of boots I can wear in bad weather and that should only look better with a few scuffs and marks.

We or at least I think of the shoes of yesteryear as being of higher quality in both leather and construction (eg higher stitch count per inch on welts). However a friend showed me a pair of Crockett and Jones shoes he inherited from his father. The model name was "Ludlow" and they were made from the despised polished leather and the leather soles were cemented on not welted! My guess is they were made in the 1960s or possibly early 1970s. His shoe repairer is converting them to a GYW construction for him. I'm sure this construction was offered in the name of being "light weight" as indeed it is today with some footwear from G&G and EG. But this shoe not being a summer loafer it left me thinking that sometimes things are getting better.

That is the code stated on their website but it says "code invalid" when applied in the cart. Did it work for you?
