I would happily take all of these in just about every available colorway, though. I suspect you'd say the same.

I would. (and have) LOL

Interesting question. From my own collection:

A silk navy with white pindots would be up there but I'm not currently selling any, though am working on getting this fabric custom printed for me, and in other colorways too.

I know, I'm really boring that way. I would include more colors like green in a top 10 or 12, but with 8 I'd rather limit my color range and retain my favorite squares.

I notice that both of you are missing a white silk for formal wear.

You recommend white silk for formal? I was under impression that white linen in a TV fold was appropriate. Am I mistaken?

White linen is fine for formal wear.

From Black Tie Guide:

The classic pocket square is a white handkerchief of fine white linen

And

A handkerchief of fine white linen is the conventional pocket square with evening wear

I think it looks too business-like. I'm sure it's acceptable but I think in the black and white-era photos I've seen of men in eveningwear, the square tends to be in a puff—it's hard to say if it's linen or silk but since silk puffs better than linen, I think it's fair to guess silk.

+1, Kent. I know linen is the classic standard, but I use the very square you posted above because linen feels a bit stiff, somehow, in the evening context. Don't really know the reason.

I don't really do much black tie since the kid. :)

I do black tie on NYE, and I've been the only one for the last three years. But, f*** it. I have the suit, and if you can't wear black tie on NYE, when can you? Maybe I'll try Kent's puff this year...

If you quote my post, you should be able to see the code directly. Do not abuse this power, young padawan. The dark side of the force is seductive.
