I see a note on the BOM not to stitch through these. Let me know if that was a miscommunication.
The only special request I had was for a single stitch instead of a double stitch on the sole. Here is a screenshot of the full order from my side with custom note at the top of the order.

Weird. Sounds like there was a miscommunication. Sorry about that, obviously if you’d like to exchange them just let me know.

Are there any significant downsides to not having the bottom stitching? I guess I'm just a little concerned because everything else about the boot is PERFECT. Is a full exchange needed just for the bottom stitching?

with the glue, nails and screws I don’t think it will affect performance. It’s really just what you’re comfortable with. I would say that if you do have any issues in the future because of it, I would happily take care of it, gratis.

Will this pair be able to be resoled in the future? If so, I think I'll take the risk and keep them. Thanks for your help, much appreciated.

Hey All, the local PBS channel did a short video on us. I think they did a nice job.

Shuyler, can you tell me how this came about? Does the PBS station contact businesses they wish to feature? I have a personal interest in this, so thanks in advance.

Yeah, basically they reached out to me.

Happy to put you in touch with a producer if you’d like.

That is awesome, I would love that. We aren't in Spokane but I'm sure the intro can get the ball rolling. We also don't build boots.

Just to add to what Shuyler said, if you go with a double midsole and the lug sole, it's too thick to stitch through, so it isn't even an option to ask for it. I have several pairs of double midsole boots that aren't stitched through the outsole, and have never had an issue with the sole separating.
From a functional point of view, I wouldn't worry about it. It comes down to if you like the aesthetic of stitching through the outsole.

  • Cuffed (more than 1.5 inches)

  • No preference, as long as the proportions work
