why dont they just set a reserve price
Doesn't using a "reserve price" increase the listing fee? Also, when potential buyers see a reserve price, it raises concerns (it does to me). I usually avoid auctions that have a reserve price.

Just get a friend with an eBay account to bid. This works the same as a reserve price. If your friend wins the auction, there's an option to settle the auction without having the buyer pay. Doing this will not lead to eBay fees.

That is bullshit, actually.

I just checked what I assume is the same listing. All three active bidders have 100% bid activity with that seller in the last month. Wondering whether to report it.

You should. I'm going to do it.

Boy, eBay makes it hard to report! They don't even allow you to provide information about how the seller is doing it.

Yeah, *******. I like keeping an eye on that seller but I've never bought anything because, as others have pointed out, seconds go for ~80% of the price of firsts. I always wondered who was paying that much for seconds.

I bought two pairs of shoes from GoodyearShoes over the past 8 months. Both were Linea Maestro and I paid around $200 shipped for both of them. For what I got them for, I think it was worth the price and not 80% of the price of firsts.

My father, who is really good, bought shell cordovans from GoodyearShoes for $120 shipped! He got a pair of Norvegese for $150 shipped. My father has better luck than me.

Only recently have prices increased. When I first started looking into GoodyearShoes, Linea Maestro would go for $180 shipped. I still regret not getting those Park lasted Linea Maestro wingtips that went for $170 shipped.

Well I have mixed feelings mostly because of 0 or 1 feed backer ebayer.

But if you check the history of recently sold listings, there are lots of shoes between $50 and $90.

From what I've seen, boots, which are quite rare, are commonly sold at higher price, the nicest ones usually over the $160

Personnally I bought excl shipping a loafer for $17, a brogue for $20, another brogue for $55, a museum calf linea maestro for $100 and could not be happier.

If a shoe exceeds my budget, I just don't bid on it and life goes on, maybe next week or month the same model will reappear.

The size also matters.

Humonguous shoes size 11 12 13 14 are sold with the lowest bid, like $40 for a leather boot, come on ! even Nike are more expensive.

For common sizes 7, 8, 9 its a bidding war.

that's disgusting. Just went through a dozen meermin listings and the same bullshit is happening.
Found a guy that has 100% bid activity with the seller, and he literally bids once for every listing everyday.

Either he really loves meermin that he is willing to buy 11.5UK and 8UK at the same time regardless of the fit. Maybe buy one shoe for each member of his family.

How would one bid exclusively for 1 seller and still have feedback from 100+ transactions?
Perhaps he is buying "buy it now" $0.01 items just to rack up some easy feedbacks.

I didn't quite have the motivation to dig that thoroughly, but yeah, the first time I bought from them I noticed a lot of late bids from two sellers who hadn't bought anything else and had very little feedback (from other low feedback users). Seems he's got some shill accounts.

I've bought since too, but exclusively with a sniper platform!

Yep, I just won one of his auctions and when I look at the bid history I see the same pattern.
