Generally speaking, I’d agree with you.
It’s a pity because in fact it’s happens also with kudu.
In fact, I’m a bit disappointed I cannot find Chelsea boots in kudu leather in any other brand. Grant stone doesn’t carry them, trickers either. If you have any alternatives, I’d be happy to know.

Grant Stone does carry limited runs of kudu. Check out CNES, BLKBRD, Cheane, Archibald London and many other brands manufacture shoes & boots out of Kudu Leather.

You've had stiff kudu? I only have one pair of boots in kudu and they didn't require any break-in at all, could wear them all day long on first wear

Super stiff. I have several trickers in kudu and they’re as you say. I suppose it’s meermins construction that makes them stiff. Specially the heel. I’m afraid that even after “break in” they wouldn’t change much if they are painful even when I’m not walking

I´ve 2 kudus from Meermin and both of them were super supple.
edit: still do and I love em. Really like the qualities of kudu leather

Anyone tried any sway last loafers? I just noticed these and they look so much more American and Ivy than their other loafer lasts, and it's very appealing. And they have it in the two GOAT loafer leathers, snuff suede and burgundy cordovan...

I guess along these lines, has anyone tried the burgundy heritage cordovan? It comes from a mystery tannery which does not inspire a ton of confidence. Would love to see some pics in the wild and reports after wear.

Not yet and I’m generally not inclined to spend money on ‘mystery’ cordovan or any other non specific sourced leather footwear. That Meermin offers products from undisclosed sources should be a warning bell. That said, I too wouldn’t mind hearing some feedback from folks that have purchased their heritage cordovan footwear.

I've seen some pics here but more in-depth reviews are available on reddit r/goodyearwelt. General consensus is that it is obviously not horween but people are rather satisfied nonetheless. Clearly not the best shell but the lowest price

I've recently bought a chukka boot on the hiro last in my usual 7uk size but they seem to be rather narrow in the toebox. What is the general consensus with sizing the hiro last, do most people size up half a size?

Those look really cool. Can you provide some info regarding when you purchased these, the fit & last, are they comfortable, etc.?
I actually mislabeled these, when I looked back at their detail, I see this pair are actually Shinki shell. They are part of a special makeup Meermin did for me in 2021. Specs are: 138025 HOK LAST 8 UK Hand-sewn 270º Norvegese. Here’s a look at the entire batch. The cognac and bourbon are Horween, the black marbled are Rocado, the rest are Shinki.

How do you prefer trousers to be finished?

  • Plain hem

  • Cuffed (1.5 inches or less)

  • Cuffed (more than 1.5 inches)

  • No preference, as long as the proportions work
