Hi there, thanks for checking out my review! I actually have tried on the monk straps, and I wear them all the time. Size 9 fits me just right (same as all my other dress shoes), and I am indeed able to slip them on without unbuckling them. Maybe I just have skinny feet...

Anyway, I appreciate the feedback! Thanks!

Actually, I tried this recently as well and do not have a problem slipping them on with a shoe horn without unbuckling either strap. The shoe fits me perfectly too, so it is not about the shoe being too loose or big.

Wearing my cogniac linea maestro wing tips today. I wear a 12 B on the AE 65 last and these are a 10.5 UK and the Olfe last. They fit well enough to work, but are not perfect (a touch wide).

can anyone speak to the fit of an oxford on the hiro last compared to an oxford on the allen edmonds 65 last?
I wear a 12 B in the 65 last oxfords, which is essentially a perfect fit for me as I have long, narrow and flat feet. My Olfe lasted Meermin oxfords are a 10.5 UK and fit slightly wide in the heel/instep, probably similar to a 11.5 D on the 65, but the additional width in the toe box allows room for my toes. I've read that the Hiro is a touch wider than the Olfe and built for a higher instep, so it probably fits more like a true E than the Olfe. I would think the jump is similar to going from the AE 65 last to the 108. Hope that helps.

Also, I had a ton of heel slip in mine until the soles broke in. They are linea maestro, so the soles are beefy and were extremely stiff. I had insoles in them to mitigate the heel slip until the soles broke in.

Hello all!, I am heading to London, Paris, Madrid and Barcelona between May 13 - 29 and was interested in picking up a pair of Meermin Dress shoes to continue and round out my current collection. The price point looks great for a re-soleable shoe and I've read positive things.

I currently have Walnut AE Strands, Burnished Brown AE Park Avenues, Black AE Park Avenues and a brown/charcoal Plain toe blutcher from John Varvatos. I wear size 9 3E for Allen Edmonds , and this has enough room for me to place custom made orthotics into them :).

Boots wise I have a pair of Brown IronRanger Redwings and Rust brown 1k Wolverines.

Any suggestions on what I should pickup ? I was thinking bordeaux/burgundy penny loafers or blutcher wingtips. Boots wise i was thinking maybe a chelsea dress boot.. I work in the finance industry and mainly wear my dress at work. Other times i may wear my dress shoes is on weekends if I know i'm heading to a nice bar or fancy restaurant or for dress up event such as a wedding :)

Go to Meermin´s shop in Madrid and make your choice (make sure the fit is good enough).

Right - I don't think the buckles are meant to be done and undone every time you wear the shoe... I would imagine they would wear out quickly. Monk straps are less formal than oxfords or derbies (I would categorize them alongside loafers), so they are meant to be looser-fitting and easier to slip on and off. I just keep them buckled at a comfortable setting that allows me to put them on without undoing them.

Received my first Meermin shoes today, double monk on Hiro in Cherry shell cordovan. This was a GMTO from Mar and got delivered right in time.

I am pretty happy with the sizing ( and this forum helped a lot with that) and the shoes. I was worried about the finishing on the shoes based on various reviews I read here, but glad that these shoes don't have any noticeable defects at all.
Cherry shell pops up when out in the sun but pretty muted indoors just like i expected it to be.

Hate to be this guy, but haven't found a lot of information on sizing compared to Aldens.

Can anyone comment on Hiro Vs. Barrie?

I'm a 9D barrie...

Thanks!
