Foster & Son bespoke shoe maker is is in the US this week after a long hiatus. They plan on making trips here every six months. Sarah Adlam, Managing Director and Simon Bolzoni, last maker are representing Foster & Son on this trip. Sarah took over the business after her husband who purchased the Foster & Son/Henry Maxwell, passed away. Simon Bolzoni trained under the legendary shoe maker Mr. Terry Moore, who still spends part of his time at Foster & Son. Simon is the youngest person I've met on these trips by bespoke shoemakers, and apparently Sarah gets a significant amount of interest from the younger generation hoping to join the shoe making trade. This can only mean good things for the future of the trade and for customers. Prices are fairly standard for English bespoke shoemakers, starting at £1,550 for shoes and £250 for shoe-trees. All prices include VAT. Below are some pictures of their sample bespoke shoes. They did not bring RTW samples on this trip but they will measure clients up to figure out the best fit on their RTW lasts.

I'm not sure if this video of Foster & Son has been posted before. I can't link to it directly, so point your browser to:
www.golondon.com
Select "London TV"
Select "Watch London TV on the Web"
Select the "Shopping" channel
Select "Foster & Son"

I have a pair of Foster and Son captoes I picked up on my last trip to London. They're my favorite pair of shoes.

TR, there are a lot of people here who would be better off without any of this information.

Haven't you learned about Manton's shoe crushes by now? Last spring, it was Koji Suzuki. Last fall, it was Gomez. It's just about time for him to move on.

My crushes were more healthy when they were on shoes I had no hope of getting. When Foster camps out two blocks from my office, it's almost like they're daring me.

So if Koji = David Cassidy then Gomez = Leif Garrett?

Yes, with co-star Parker Stevenson, whom Kirsty Ally (before she got enormously fat) once, while giving a short speech at an award ceremony, rather indelicately thanked for his Brobdingnagian endowment and boudior prowess. Sadly, they subsequently divorced.

EDIT: Drat, beaten to the punch by the shoe freak.
