Keeping in mind that I'm into my 2nd week/6th wearing of these boots, I've obviously a long way to go and am not feeling impatient about the break in period. I don't know if weight of the wearer has a bearing (heh) on the break in, but I'm a relatively feathery 145 lbs, so that may play a part too.

Yep, my right foot is bigger than my left as well. Once i get it in it fits fine. No blisters here but plenty of soreness up around the very top of the boot. It takes a while with some leathers, I guess, before they loosen up enough to let the ankle articulate the way it would without any boots on.

Try what I said in the previous post when you are wearing them. Stairs work well and crouching and kneeling works well. Flex them in every direction you can think of. That has helped with mine when I am wearing them. Getting the upper part of the boot broken in seems to be the hardest part with mine so i just bend them in all the directions a construction worker or a mechanic would while they are working. But yes, it increases the pain and discomfort until they get worked in.

Well, I just reached the 17 hour mark with these things on. Time to let the ankles recuperate. CHAIO

I would think that the oil finish leathers would break in sooner than the others by virtue of their being saturated through with preserving oils, though I have no direct experience of this.
16 hours a day! You are a hard man, I just wear my White's at work every second day or so, with this just being my second week of doing so.
They get more comfortable walking in after about 15 minutes, unfortunately I drive for a living and am in and out of a van all day, so opportunities for stretching them (and my feet) out are few.

No, the oil tans (black and brown) are definitely the thickest, toughest leather White's has..

Thought I would share a link to a guys blog with a lot of pictures. The link has the search built in, and has pages of results, you just have to click on the "Next Posts" to get to the other pages with matches to the search.

Wow. That German guy is... obsessed. Great image resource though, many thanks.

In other news, these are not my size, but someone should snap 'em up - gorgeous!
(Any guesses as to which of the many brown leather options was used?)

Something weird about that auction. It ended at $273.00 and now is relisted with a buy it now of $250.

Also, the manufacture date for those boots looks like April 2003 (could be 2006). The sole looks almost new.

How do you prefer trousers to be finished?

  • Plain hem

  • Cuffed (1.5 inches or less)

  • Cuffed (more than 1.5 inches)

  • No preference, as long as the proportions work
