Only tangentially related to 18e I suppose but I don't know where else to ask. Anyone have experience with Earth Studies mainline stuff? There's a pair of 103 pants calling my name but can't find any reviews or pics anywhere.

Echoing airhead, have a couple pairs of the 108 Utility Pants and research shirts and very happy with all of it.

Great stuff. Made in same factory as 18east, and the finishing on it is superb. Really good designs, Rob is a genius

Is the consensus sizing down on the Siello? Looking at the new denim Siello, mainly wanting it because of Antonio’s fit check on IG. He sized down and I thought it looked great on him but he also said he would have picked his regular size if available lol
I have the old Siello, so might not be 100% applicable because Antonio mentioned they changed the fit.

But I took my normal size and it was the right call. Only thing, though, is that the sleeves are very long. I measured and they were I think 38 inches on my size XL. I had to shorten them a bit, but not a huge deal.

The current Siello doesn't have the ultra long sleeves.

Received my outworker shirt and first impressions were a bit underwhelming. The stitching on the pockets and and around edges and seams seem bad to me. Anyone else experience this with theirs? I probably should have sized down, but the fit is not great either imo

Unfortunately I have to agree with you.

This stitching job is bad, tons of excess threads, bad lines. Not sure if it’s the nature of the wool but if there’s not a Made in US label I’d think this is straight from Costco. The Made in India line is way way above this.

If anything, this has little to say about 18E but lots to say about Johnson. I had high expectation but this is unfortunately going back.

For what it’s worth, sized down fit is good.

While I absolutely agree that our India-made product is levels above JWM (and frankly every other US manufacturer) in terms of quality, these photos mostly show untrimmed threads, which should have been snipped at the qc stage but don’t affect the construction integrity. People literally hand down JWM 2-3 generations. Silhouette-wise, the outworker is my favorite shirt we make and it seems somewhat silly to me to return it it you like how it fits because of a few threads you could very easily trim yourself in under 3 minutes.

I’d like to see something like this in the future but zip or button front

As I sit here in their field pant, it’s hard for me to think of a brand I could wholeheartedly recommend more than Earth Studies (45rpm is up there but Brandon and Rob happen to be two of my favorite people). They do produce the majority of their products at our facility now, and use a good amount of fabrics that we’ve developed from scratch. There isn’t a single other brand I would allow to do that, and that should say something.

Think I’m going to have to pull the trigger on a cascade shell. Spent 8 hours at work in the rain last night in my Beta AR and almost can’t stand the fit of it.

How do you prefer trousers to be finished?

  • Plain hem

  • Cuffed (1.5 inches or less)

  • Cuffed (more than 1.5 inches)

  • No preference, as long as the proportions work
