didn't know they run alteration in general too, I thought it's MtM shop (they call themselves bespoke but no idea if that's true)

Just got these two suits back from Brooks Brothers in Rockefeller Plaza and noticed these ripples on my shoulders. I was told it’s because my shoulders are high/squared on this site and that they could be fixed with a good tailor.

Can anyone recommend me a tailor that can do this? Any idea how much this would cost?

Don't they have access to a good tailor? That salesman mind tricked you like despot says its not an easy alteration.

haven't been to BB since 2010? Used to be the only competent tailors they have are on 346 Madison, which of course is no longer...

I really don't post here, but since I saw references to L&S, for what it's worth that's where I've been taking everything for the past 4-5 years and I've been very happy. Probably not the cheapest, but very reliable, and they seem to be knowledgeable. I've taken in a 70's era Tommy Nutter tuxedo, and one of the older guys on staff was thrilled as he said he was friends with Edward Sexton, who was going to visit soon (obviously before Edward passed away). Sometimes I consider trying the Tailoring Room, but if I'm happy with L&S why change?
Do you know how much they charge for a hem? Nothing else additional needed, just need an inch or two for a few pairs.

Was going to go Tailoring Room but price list on website now has it starting at $25 and I'm not around LES as much anymore so it's a bit out of way. Wazin used to be a few blocks away from work but since changing employers is now more like 20-25 minutes.

Tbh if it's starting at like $25 I'm wondering if I should just go to one of those dry cleaner/tailors, esp since hems are fairly simple.

Tailoring room prices have creeped up. Hem is $25 and pants waist open is $35.

Yeah I doubt that L&S would be cheaper than other places for a hem. In fact if a hem was all I needed I'd probably go elsewhere, but L&S is where I take things that require multiple adjustments to waists, hems, sleeve lengths, side panels, etc. simply because they've been reliable every time.

Can anyone with experience at Tailoring Room or Wazin speak to their ability to recommend certain alterations? I’m looking for an altercations tailor who can provide advice rather than simply doing the alteration I say

Wazin can recommend but he has a slim aesthetic preference (guy is fit), so if you let him drive that’s his tendency unless you bring something that definitely has a obvious choice (flare pants, wide straight pants).

True, I would be hesitant to bring a non-CM wide or oversized fit to Wazin for tailoring. He wears his clothes very slim.

How do you prefer trousers to be finished?

  • Plain hem

  • Cuffed (1.5 inches or less)

  • Cuffed (more than 1.5 inches)

  • No preference, as long as the proportions work
