The dreaded 'slim fit' - where did it all start?

The second part of my question was who and what has precipitated the rejection of this, and the embrace of fuller fits, wider trousers, and roomier chests? Did we 'all' suddenly realise "hang on, we look daft", or did some designer or icon come out with something that others then followed?

Are you sure it’s been rejected?

If slim fits have always be with us, they won’t be going away this time either.

Are we talking slim or skinny? Skinny I've always thought preposterous; but to me clothes that follow the contours of one's body without clinging or stretching are not "slim," but just clothes that fit well. At the other end of the spectrum I've been told by sales personnel that sport coats and shirts with enough excess fabric to conceal a beer keg underneath "fit." No, they don't.

Reddit mfa is still in the slim fit times lol.

All I'd say is, I like both bigger and slimmer cuts, but the only one combo that baffles me to this day is making narrow shoulders AND low armholes during the 2010s slim fit era. Cant barely move in those cuts!

How do you prefer trousers to be finished?

  • Plain hem

  • Cuffed (1.5 inches or less)

  • Cuffed (more than 1.5 inches)

  • No preference, as long as the proportions work
