I love both but love chukkas more. I wear chukkas just about every other day.

Good elastic will last for many years. I have a pair of chelsea boots from Church's that are 17 -18 years old.

I was diggin those purple Chukkas a few posts back. I couldn't pull it off, but I wish I could.

I see. I guess I'm not a big fan of Chuccas then. After seeing some more pictures I think they are too much of a hybrid between a shoe and a boot.

I like chelsea boots in black leather only, and prefer chukka boots in everything else - brown leather/cordovan/suede/whathaveyou. Why I have no idea. I like my chukkas on the sleeker side though. I'm not a fan of the ubiquitous Alden chukkas.
