I thought chukka had more to do with an ankle high boot that is lace up. Isn't that derby higher than a chukka? They make chukka work boots that look nothing like the SF chukka, but they are both ankle high lace ups.

Couldn't help posting these again. Wearing them for the first time today with jeans. Looks damn good. Oh, my vote is for Chelseas.

Chelsea > Chukka......tho the uninterrupted expanse of leather bugs me a bit so I like chelseas with a bit of brogueing, wingtip or a captoe...something to break it up.

but a good ol fashioned Doc Marten boot will stomp over either and emerge victorious, or be banished to Valhalla

chukka are at both ends of the formality spectrum with chelsea right in between. imo.

you have a chukka that is very informal looking, gunboaty and worn to work in the barns and stacking hay.

you have the sleeker chelseas (usually best in black) and can be worn with standard business dressy affair and suits.

then you have the very elegantly created chukka dress boots, that in my mind, are the apex of elegance in bootwear with formal dress.
