@shoefan57 You take your regular size in these ? And do you take these in the same size as a 12508?
Yes to both but bear in mind that I find a lot of Cheaney lasts narrow so tend to stick to the 12508. I can also wear the 208 but not the new Imperial last. Hurricane in my normal size does make for a slightly more roomy boot but I wouldn’t want to go down half a size.

Another Hurricane for today, in last year’s Bronze Kudu. Very supple but thick leather, great boot

This sounds good for my slim feet. Do the lasts feel narrow overall or just in some parts? In particular I need a last with narrow heels.

For me it is across the widest part of the shoe and the instep. The 125 last and the Imperial last are especially problematic for me unless the 125 last is in a G fitting.

I agree with that assessment of Cheaney lasts. Many are narrow. I find 130 and 142 are a great fit and give room.

That was a big problem for me when I tried Cheaney shoes in the past. I found their shoes much more generous in the ankle/heel than Lobb or Edward Green. I thought at first the heel slip and such was just due to the very heavy construction of the shoes and tried to allow for break-in, but the issues never really resolved.

Highly recommend trying on in-store if you have that option. If not, you probably want to order your first pair directly from Cheaney online. They have really good online return policies and very fast shipping, so you may want to order a couple of your potential usual sizes to try on at the same time and then return the ones that don't fit.

Anyone here has the Bowland boot? If I wear Alden Barrie last in 7E, and Viberg 7E, what size should I get?
I have the Pennine II boots on the same last and although the website states it is a true to size last I had to upsize half a size because of the short toe box. But maybe others have different experiences.

I wear them with thick boot socks by the way.

How do you prefer trousers to be finished?

  • Plain hem

  • Cuffed (1.5 inches or less)

  • Cuffed (more than 1.5 inches)

  • No preference, as long as the proportions work
