Have I mentioned the Burger Joint in the Parker Meridien in this thread? It's on my list, along with Louis Lunch in New Haven, which I know I've already mentioned.

I would have to say Burger Joint in The Parker Meridien and J.G Melons on 75th are my top two in New York.

I am in Cambridge,MA for the summer and Bartley's here is the best in town

I went to Five Guys this afternoon. It was OK. Pretty good. I'd have one again. But hard to call it the best, and the fries I didn't like.

How did it compare to In-N-Out, if you've ever been.

Have you been to Big Buns and The Burger Joint?

I think In-and-Out is better in terms of meat-taste. There's a definite, and non-accidental, resemblance between the two chains, obviously. And I&O has better fries.

The best burger, far and away, that I've ever had is at a little place outside Hartford called Shady Glen. They take a burger, put a lot of cheese on top, and somehow flip the burger to get the cheese directly on the griddle surface. The result is a crispy cheese, kind of like the stuff that ends up on the cookie sheet when you make frozen pizza or any kind of baked cheese item. The burgers themselves are terrific. The buns are toasted on the griddle, and oila. They are truly amazing, and I highly recommend a visit to the uninitiated.
