Hilarious, I have the same set up but with Malavita's instead of Cartel's. You will love the board - it is unbelievable in nearly all conditions. Stable at high speeds, good pop for jumps and ollies and enough flex for jibs. It does get a little wobbly at slow speeds. I got a Burton Nug to whip around for fun this season. Going to Park City on Saturday for a week - gonna be sweet. What are your plans this season Wes?

Only managed to get out twice so far, packed pow conditions both times. Board was awesome. Tbh, C2BTX is the only hybrid camber profile from any maker I was willing to consider bc I figured MagnaTraction would help with edge hold in the sketchy icy QC conditions I usually ride. Plans for this season are try to ride every other weekend, snow conditions and weather permitting. 1 week off in February so hopefully I'll get to ride more then... With the little one at home, we'll be more than happy if we manage 10-12 outings this season. Dude, does your wife ride too? My wife and I are planning to start our 2 y.o. next year.

Nug huh? I'm debating getting a Root 144 (= zero camber Nug) to mess around on.

So far I have two days under my belt, both in So Cal so not super satisfying, but I plan to make it up to Whistler. I've been riding a DC Tone w/ some Forum Republic bindings. Not a bad set up, but I'm still getting used to reverse-camber/no-camber. My favorite piece of gear this season are these new Arnette Skylights I picked up recently. The fit and vision are amazing.

What time of year are you going? Do you have any experience going out of bounds? Do you have gear to go out of bounds, or would you need to be outfitted? What is your general level of fitness and snowboarding ability?

Thanks man, ended up going to Jackson hole. They also had a snowmobile convention that weekend which made for a fun weekend

Just back from a week in Park City - first half of the week was Blue Bird, second half was a POW fest. Riding the Nug was a blast - it handled a lot better than I imagined, even at speed. Not that great in POW, however, and my worst spill of the trip was because it washed out on me on a double blue in 8 inches of fresh powder.

Next trip for me will be Jackson in March - NAMOR, I've heard its about as difficult as it comes as far as terrian. Any observations to share?

I'm looking to buy a snowboard later this spring when stuff goes on sale. Is there a particular brand that makes a relatively affordable all purpose board? I'm planning to exclusively use it to slide down snow-covered mountains on, so it doesn't need to be covered in manga or other marsupialed forms of clip art. If it were a solid color, that would be ideal.

I've heard good things about them. How experienced are you in the back country? Jackson Hole is no fkn joke. A guy died and another critically injured when I visited last March.

Honestly, go for last seasons Burton custom. It has most of the tech and is all mtn. If you don't want to "sell out" to corporate, I'd go with a past season Capita Black Snowboard of Death or a Lib Tech Attack Banana.

I've only been back country snowboarding just a few hundred feet from the lift, but spent plenty of time in the back country climbing, hiking, snow camping. Just recently finished a course with Alaska Mountaineering School. I have all the gear I need, and avalanche knowledge so I think we will be ok in that regard.

I think we will be able to find something that is mellow enough, not trying to do anything too serious

I'll gladly sell out to corporations and take a big ass logo on the thing, but I'm not selling out to ****** graphic design. I just don't roll like that.

That you have basic knowledge is great, but please hire a guide. I'm assuming that you are planning on going out of bounds from the ski area, as opposed to backcountry in the tetons (referred to as "the park" by the locals) or off of teton pass ("the pass"). JH has access gates to out of bounds terrain from within the ski area, which will be plenty challenging based on your level of experience. You can get a guide with a group or private. Always, always, always get to the mountain early, particularly if you get a powder day (even if you are staying in bounds - get on the first tram!). Guides also have good insight where you can make fresh tracks OOB.

FWIW I used to spend ~4 wks per year in JH skiing/climbing.

december shouldn't be a problem at all for snow. it would be really unusual
