jump ball (and apologies for any doubletaps) - if i am a solid fit in tag size 56 in the 2018-2020 valstar cow suede clint western jacket, what should i take in the jaspers? measurements look (much) more generous in the jaspers, perhaps intended fit is different?

I’d stick with 56. Jasper is a coach jacket shape so it’s more straight and square than the Clint (no ribbing at hem). It’s also padded.

appreciate it! i think it’s exactly that esoteric western windbreaker style that got me over the fence on it. (now to decide whether to stick with dark brown or go blue/green).

I’m so surprised to see so few preorders for the KS umbrella coat. When I put it on, I thought there it is, this is exactly what a classic bal should be. I thought it would be a blowout on preorders 🤷🏻

I agree, it's kind of perfect. I just already have like 3 raglan sleeve coats and am a little balmacaan'd out these days.

^I just grabbed it based on Greg's post haha. bal'd out myself, but figure maybe this one allows me to sell a couple of the others. went back and forth on sizing for this, ultimately decided to go with the 42, as my 42 traveler fit and everything but it was a little tight through the shoulders. feel like I generally am 1 size up from Greg, hope this holds true here!

and now contemplating which color of Jaspers to go with.

Same. I have 2 Camoshita Bals and the Valstar camel casentino from 2 seasons ago. There’s no room to add another long coat. The ones I have are perfect already.

Thank you very much. That's about what I thought regarding the bomber shape and fit.

How do people feel about the navy color in the Virgil? The green is great, but I find myself drawn to the navy.
nice U/N haha.

I also really like the Navy. Looks sharp. Green maybe looks better with denim, but then you can't wear it with green pants. Navy you could wear with both. Green is kind of the classic flight jacket/bomber color. Can't go wrong with either. The black and tan are both also super nice. Feel like this will be one of those jackets that everyone gets! haha.

I really love it in the brown but I maybe love the Hunter in brown a wee bit more. Can't decide at the moment.

If I were to go Umbrella, are the sleeves about the same length as the Traveller? Looks like they are in the pictures. Sleeves on my Traveller in a 42 fit me similarly to the model and I'd only consider sizing down if the sleeves were significantly longer.

Everything on the Umbrella is bigger and longer. I’m 100% sure the sleeves are longer too as they didn’t even strike me as short on me wearing a size down.

Yes they are longer for sure. This is the same model wearing size 4/40 of the traveler, umbrella and walker. Walker and Traveler have similar sleeve length. Umbrella looks about an inch longer

If you read the copy I wrote for that coat, we’ve stayed away from it in the past specifically because of how it looks on their models. They tend to have a 38-ish model wear all size 40 garments so they always look a bit over on him. But the Umbrella coat just looked ridiculous on their pics. It does look like he sized up two. That was a turnoff.

Then I tried it on last week in Paris at their showroom and 🤯 it was perfection in a size down. That’s why I recommend 1 size down on it. Now if KS 42 always left someone wanting for more room and length, then definitely go for 42. But I think most people will be happiest with one size down.

Yeah, I read the copy. Had it in my head when I looked at the pictures that there wasn't much difference. Not sure what I was thinking as the difference is clear from the pictures you posted. Thats helpful, thanks.

@gdl203 im surprised too, looks like a great silhouette in that photo. I plan to order in that camel color too. Do you think you’ll plan to stock it?

Yes we’ll have it but probably not a lot of units because it’s not cheap to stock.

How do you prefer trousers to be finished?

  • Plain hem

  • Cuffed (1.5 inches or less)

  • Cuffed (more than 1.5 inches)

  • No preference, as long as the proportions work
