I can’t wait to try some raw chicken with everyone...
Yeah... you're gonna have to wait. Now, some hot smokies and a beer, that we can do.

Speaking of meetups, I guess it is time to organize another SF meetup soon. Let me look at my calendar and I’ll start a thread.

I am hardly a prolific or long-time poster but just wanted to put in my two cents. I joined in 2013 when I realized that I had turned 40 and had no idea how to dress. Ann Arbor is a fantastic town in many ways, but menswear is sadly lacking in these parts. Anyhow I have learned so much from the SF community over the past 4+ years, and lately I have been trying to give back to newer posters. Thanks, everyone.

I agree with all of that. Excepting maybe that one time we had chicken sashimi. @Parker was there too. I still don't know how we let @itsstillmatt talk us into that.
Oh man, I try to forget about that meal, but aside from raw chicken it was a classic Styleforum meetup; great guys, interesting conversation, lots of style. Good times!
Was that the place in the East Bay? I think we were planning the 10th Ann. party.

Hahaha! I almost blocked that out of my memory. That was definitely "living on the edge" for me. Matt was very non-chalant about it, but I was secretly freaking out.

I stumbled into the Styleform "bar" sometime in 2004 when I was in a search of a local tailor to replicate a thrift shop '60s suit I had. I never found that tailor, but I stuck around to:
• read about all kinds of useless clothing arcana
• lose many hours in job productivity
• spend way more $$ on fashion than I ever imagined possible
• meet some great, interesting people in real life
• booze it up with lefty, binge, Label King, et.al.

I do look back fondly at the pre CM/SWD split. It was like the internet wild west with people talking about Earnest Sewn jeans and Kiton suits all in one room. A very eclectic crowd with some unique and contrarian views. I do miss the poster DocHolliday. We are fellow Avengers fans.

Matt relishes is being nonchalant while the rest of us freak out. It's sorta his thing.

Hey, @LA Guy, I think you missed tagging GQAirlinePilot*

I thought it would be fitting to use my 10,000th post (wow, I've really wasted that much time here?) to reminisce about what SF has meant to me. I am one of the original posters who came over from the GQ Forum in March 2002 after the shenanigans of Mr. Pilot and never left. I am flattered to be included among the SF luminaries, although truth be told, I'm the Jerome Bettis of SF: Any status I've earned is due to being a nice guy who's stuck around for awhile. SF has been called a bar and a "manual for life"; to me, it's just home. I'm a member of several internet forums, but this is the only one in which I spend an appreciable amount of time due to the community that we have here. I've learned more than I ever needed to know about mens style and made some great friends online and in real life along the way. And regardless of how my interest in clothing has waxed and waned over the years (I'm currently in a buying moratorium due to other interests and obligations), it is gratifying to know that SF will always be a respite from the outside world. Thanks, j and Fok for all you've done and continue to do.

*If you got this joke, you are truly old school.

I found SF and AAAC via this NY Times article in 2004. http://www.nytimes.com/2004/09/28/fashion/for-the-splendidly-dressed-man-web-sites-to-match.html

I lurked for a long time before signing up. Back in the day, SF was more about finding great deals and sales vs AAAC was more about bespoke. I finally signed up to discuss one of the legendary PS Grenson’s sales. I think I met a number of SF folk waiting in line for the sales, JM Weston and Asprey sales in particular.

I think the membership changes with time and there is a point in the SF archives were you can really good discussions of very high end goods. I’ve been amazed at the discussions I have found by mining the SF archives (eg furniture, audio, stemware and etc).

That was fun to read! Thanks for the NY Times link.

@Ambulance Chaser, you probably don't remember, but I remember meeting you in 2007 or so at a Denim Bar event (along with LA Guy, Mauro, etc.)

@poorsod: Yeah, I tell friends that the great thing about Styleforum is that on it you can find a world-class expert on anything. Its members first come together out of an interest in and dedication to excellence in clothing but they stay and have discussions about excellence in all kinds of other areas.
