I love those black ps brogues. I also wouldn't mind something in grey, similar to what jude law is sporting in this pic:

I have a pair of grey costume national captoe boots, that get darker at the toe; but something sleeker would be nice.

Great thread Brian. I too am stuggling to fill this void in my wardrobe, and would appreciate any opinions on this shoe/look. I got these for $160 during the Polo sale. Does this look too conservative/boring? I wonder if I could apply some black shoe polish or something to make them look more aged/worn in. Could I do a lot better for $160?

IMO at $160 you'd be hard pressed to find a better pair of shoes at that quality. That said, they are a bit too conservative, particularly for what I'm after. But in either case, I want this thread to be useful for others as well, and those are some fine shoes that could be worn casually just fine.

Also, I have done some things to keep my shoes looking less conservative. I don't put them in shoe trees, I rarely polish them (but when I do, I use odd colors of polish, like green, blue, purple, red, etc.), and I sometimes crease them and wipe bits of bleach on them too.

What did the Corben do to deserve the bird? Please enlighten me. I can always send them back.

they were passing those off as Edward Greens on sale for $300ish

I think half the MC forum bought a pair, and of course no one received EGreen's

Thanks Get Smart.

Okay...so they're not Edward Greens. I didn't expect that for $160. That's not an inherent problem with these shoes though. That was a Polo mistake.

Any other opinions on the overall look of these shoes?

Thanks for the advice on keeping them from looking too conservative Brian.
