The Westminster pair need work on the toecap as the antiquing is a FAIL and the toecap medallion piece is slightly askew on my monitor.

the antiquing does look better in person, the light of the room and camera are not helping here.

as to medallion, if all the these things are handcrafted, isnt there and expectation for things to be slightly off, and isnt that part of the character of the shoe?

^ I'm not sure what the objection is...that stitching is a deliberate choice and one that is made by factories and some bespoke makers all over the world--it anchors the tongue to prevent it from sliding to one side or the other.

Well, This obviously shows my lack of experience with such shoes.

I've only owned Italian shoes for many years and have only recently been delving into other types and I've generally avoid laceups in general as well.

But in any case to my eye it looks just terrible on these light colored shoes.

Love that Deco calf's faded/purplish accent on the toe, but should probably stick to neutral colored polish :D

Deco Black is actually much more subtle than what the pictures makes it out to be. The fading is very discreet.

I tried on both pairs and these shoes are like walking on a cloud, seriously the most comfortable shoes i have ever worn. soft but very supportive. like butter but also felt like i was standing firmly on the ground.

but a funny thing happened. there is no question that the size 11 is correct, its as perfect a fit as i have ever tried on. however, the st. james on the MH71 in size 11 was damn near impossible to put on my feet, maybe I didnt open it wide enough, but it was really hard getting it on. once i was able to get it on, it fit perfectly. not loose and not too snug, just perfect. the westminster on TG73 in size 10.5 slipped right on, but was way to tight, not even a question.

i emailed nick and he said that its not the first time he heard that about the st james. anybody have a similar experience with the st james or any other shoe?
