no, you are correct imo. there is a small blotchiness in the toe area. but outside of that its a beautiful dark cherry color. wouldnt be my choice for a first pair but would love something in that color down the road.

I like VR without any black spots as well, but it shouldn't be that hard to conceal with a bit of polishing and wearing.

And IMO, slight imperfection adds some character in an otherwise perfect pair - as long as its slight.

Stitchy,

So, to be clear these are seconds/rejects just for trying on? Please tell me yes - as the stitching around the lacing on the Westministers is not right. Although I'm digging the vintage chestnut color!

How do they fit? I'm very happy with my two pairs on the TG73 last. It fits true to size for me.

i dont think they are seconds. i havent tried them on yet. tomorrow is the big day. maybe its the pic that is making the stitching look off?

the color is really great, but again not something for a rookie, its very light and almost orangeish. well, more like a chestnut really. maybe down the line.

Vintage Oak, good choice, versatile.

About the stitching - this is what I'm referring to:

They MUST be seconds. As this shows up in all the photos.

Anyway - I guess since you aren't keeping them it doesn't much matter.

^ I'm not sure what the objection is...that stitching is a deliberate choice and one that is made by factories and some bespoke makers all over the world--it anchors the tongue to prevent it from sliding to one side or the other.

All my G&Gs have that stitching to keep the tongue in place. And mine are not seconds.

The Westminster pair need work on the toecap as the antiquing is a FAIL and the toecap medallion piece is slightly askew on my monitor.
