The difference between the two coats is the buttoning. Lapels like that is normal, if you are old enough, with a three button coat. Longer lapels for two button. 4 button is fine to.

The open quarters revels to much clutter, waistband of trousers, etc. Since clothing is visual it is art, as the rule for painters, "don't clutter by having to much", the same rule applies for wearing clothes.

I recall that the context for this suit is that this LL member is a music teacher (?piano) and he uses this suit when he teaches. The design is based on an old vintage coat and vest but I can't seem to find the thread where the details are discussed. The suit looks vintage because it is supposed to be. As a uniform/costume for his profession, I think it is not an unreasonable choice.

I dunno. That suit looks like it would very quickly become uncomfortable while playing the piano.

Sure, but the high-rise, flat-fronted trousers and tight DB waistcoat would IMO restrict flexion and rotation at the mid torso.

OK, I'm no pianist, so maybe this is not a problem. But the type of waistcoat normally worn with concert dress has a very low buttoning point which allows for freedom of movement.

Maybe it's part of an elaborate act.

^ Square is a no go for me. Don't mind the grey suit, pink shirt and black tie but think a navy tie is a way better choice.

pink black and grey were everywhere together in the 80s. I like the combo.
FWIW it does violate the 'only one FU element' rule tho. i.e. pink shirt plus red square. Plain white linen hank here IMO
