There really isn't an answer to this question. Think of a girl with the nicest rack ever and a girl with the nicest butt ever and imagine you get to sleep with one of them. Say you chose the girl with a nice butt. After a while you're going to start wanting the girl with the nice boobs because although this girl has a super nice butt, butts are not boobs and you want a girl with nice boobs.

I guess for an expensive sneaker purchase it makes more sense to get black ones because black sneakers will always be black, but white sneakers turn into that worn in white look and continue to look more worn in.

But if someone gave me money to buy a pair of Common Projects I would buy a pair in white because I like white sneakers more.

There really is no correct answer.

I'd always go for the nice butt. Are white sneakers one of those things that tends to improve with age and dirt, or are they just getting shittier looking?

It is entirely subjective and there's no real right answer, but if you want the most bang, those two will definitely not achieve that. Common Projects, MMM, etc. are all way better alternatives. Hell, you'd get more longevity out of a pair of deadstock GAT's. I know guys who've had them for ages and they look beautiful and they're only 70-90 bucks usually.

Specifically, what is it about the shoes I listed that makes them poor value?

I'm not being argumentative, I just want to learn.

It's pretty hard for either of them to look shittier than they already do.

invalid argument.. you're comparing colors of a sneaker to something totally irrelevant. colors of a shoe aren't long term investments. you don't want to buy a shoe that doesn't match anything in your wardrobe. a black shoe could be someone else white shoe.

MMM gat don't last forever

I swear some of the people hyping MMM gats and common projects don't even own a pair. They won't last any longer then the Prada or Moncler pair, they're all just ****** machine made leather sneakers with rubber soles.

fairly simple answer really: white/light sneakers for spring/summer, black/dark for fall/winter. not that hard.

I have never understood the logic of buying expensive sneakers. Unless you have a closet full of 90 pairs, they will get beat up the same way a pair of 60 dollar Nikes do if you wear them often.

Cord leather shoes like AE are def a worthwhile investment.

With sneakers, go for something cheaper unless you have mad cash

QFT

OP those shoes are both fine, some unknowable part of me can't get behind blacked-out sneakers but those both look good otherwise. This forum especially shies away from clear branding, and I do think the Prada labeling is a little Eurotrash-y. The Moncler pebbled/monogrammed sole isn't my cup of tea, but again that isn't a dealbreaker. I'd say an all-white pair of sneaks is the most versatile, so I would recommend the Common Projects Achilles Low, which you can find on sale/B&S for around 200 if you wait.

Jimmyfingers, the logic of buying expensive sneakers is the same logic you apply to any other luxury goods purchase. value != durability
